Moon Taxi raise a glass to the era of ‘Classics’ we never knew we’d miss

Nostalgia is a weird thing, and we don’t need Don Draper hovering over the Carousel to remind us of that. Hell, there was probably little chance any of us thought back in the ’90s that we’d be romanticizing the process of using a magic marker on a CDR as we burned compact disc playlists for our friends, lovers, and car rides. But hey, here we are, and Moon Taxi’s swinging new joint “Classics” takes us back to that seemingly care-free time, when all we stressed over was how quickly the damn CD would skip after repeated listens.

The Nashville alt-indie band dropped the new single today (February 22) via 12th South Records. It’s the first taste of a new album set to arrive this summer — appropriate for road trip season.

“‘Classics’ taps into the alchemy of listening to music as a teenager. It’s such a crazy time of self discovery and identity formation,” says vocalist and guitarist Trevor Terndrup. “Music got us through it all and helped us get to the other side.”

Moon Taxi lead guitarist Spencer Thomson agrees, adding: “This is our ode to the songs that comfort us and usher in waves of nostalgia. The music and lyrics recall scenes of ’90s youth bliss, driving around aimlessly listening to burned CDs.”

Take us back, Moon Taxi, take us back.
