Ellen Krauss is missing you more on ‘Hungover (Head In A Can)’

Nearly a decade ago, a certain Swedish alt-pop artist sang about getting fucked up as a way to cope with a broken heart. This week, we’re getting high once again to reflect on a sense of longing, through it’s through a more optimistic lens. Fellow Swede and singer-songwriter Ellen Krauss releases “Hungover (Head In A Can),” a delicately glowing folk-pop spinner about missing the people or things we love the most.

And unlike that other song that deliberately kept a certain someone out of mind, Krauss’ song is more of a loving invitation, and a promise to turn the good times once had into beautiful things to come — even if a hangover or two decorates the morning light.

“‘Hungover’ is about missing something or someone,” says Krauss. “Missing home, missing family, missing a loved one. It could also be your happy place. I wrote the song when I came back from my first ever support tour and I was experiencing a lot separation anxiety. All I wanted to do was be back on the bus with a beer in my hand, playing cards, telling the same jokes over and over again, feeling dead tired but happy, and understood. Touring is lovely in that way. Everyone has their own special thing but we’re all there for the same reason. It’s the best thing ever.”

This new track will be featured on Krauss’ upcoming full-length, the follow-up to her platinum-selling 2020 debut LP Pearl and a host of recent singles that have racked up millions of plays on Spotify. Think about the person or place you long for the most with “Hungover (Head In A Can)” below.
