John Mulaney revisits Symphony Hall to record his new stand-up special

Via Bill Blumenreich Presents

If ever there was better time to dust off your best suit than right now, or at least by the end of the month, we’d love to hear about it. However, John Mulaney is (probably) doing the same as he prepares to make one hell of a lasting impression on the city of Boston.

With a surprise announcement on Tuesday (January 31), the stand-up superstar is slated to make his way back to the area for three shows within the confines of Boston’s Symphony Hall on February 25 and 26, for yet another round of his wildly successful comedy comeback, From Scratch — and this time, the sprawling venue will serve as the backdrop for his next special, as he presses “record” on the heavily personal deep-dive of an hour. The short stay will mark the second time Mulaney has occupied the Symphony Hall stage, previously doing so as part of his jam-packed Boston run on his 2017 Kid Gorgeous tour, but the impressive stats that connect Mulaney to Boston don’t stop there.

When it comes to his virtually completely sold-out tour he’s taken all over the country for the better part of the past two years, the Chicago native will be making his fourth trek to a Massachusetts stage dating back to August 2021, when he unleashed a record 21-show residency at The Wilbur to “ease” back into the swing of things following a tumultuous few months. It isn’t the first time, or even the second or third time we’ve seen him in recent memory, sure, but it’s certainly not a stretch to say he’s still a sight for sore eyes, either.

Click the links below for pre-sale access for any of the three shows, by using the code VANYA, with tickets available starting at 10 a.m. ET Thursday (February 2) before they go on sale to the general public on Friday (February 3) at noon ET.

Although Mulaney’s titanic presence is sure to rule the interwebs for the foreseeable future, don’t let that overshadow the sheer comedy force that Paula Poundstone will be bringing home with her as she makes her way to The Wilbur on May 5. Aside from the dangerously sharp observational chops that have brought her from her hometown of Sudbury to clubs and theaters all over the country for the duration of her highly successful 40-plus year career, Poundstone can also be heard as the host of her weekly podcast, Nobody Listens To Paula Poundstone, as well as a frequent panelist on NPR’s hit quiz show Wait, Wait Don’t Tell Me. In addition to a number of albums and specials, Poundstone has also authored two books, 2006’s There’s Nothing in This Book That I Meant to Say and 2017’s The Totally Unscientific Study of the Search for Human Happiness, with the latter having placed her in the running for the 2017 Thurber Prize for American Humor.

Tickets for Poundstone’s show will also have pre-sale access when you use the code VANYA, and through The Regulars pre-sale opportunity starting on Thursday at 10 a.m. ET, before general on-sale begins on Friday (February 3) at noon ET.
