Beach Weather make an alt-pop case for staying in with ‘Homebody’

We’re experiencing another cold, wet, and miserable January in New England, so we’re passing the frigid-ass time doing two things: Fantasizing about sunshine in our hazy beach-stained eyes, and scanning all the spring and summer music festival lineups for promise of warmer days. As we peep each flyer, we’re noticing a warm trend: Beach Weather are appearing on a healthy amount — Shaky Knees, Hangout, BottleRock, Adjacent — and for good reason, as the reunited American alt-pop trio led by Massachusetts native and A Rocket to the Moon vocalist/guitarist Nick Santino are set to release debut album Pineapple Sunrise in March via Arista Records.

After ending a five-year hiatus last winter and releasing a string of sun-stained singles through 2022, Beach Weather continue their forward momentum with new single “Homebody”, which dropped this past Friday (January 20); watch the ’70s-inspired music video below.

And while the music and mood of Beach Weather has us daydreaming of once again getting out and about and leaving the house, “Homebody,” at least lyrically, is all about the opposite.

“’Homebody’ is a song about being a homebody. That’s about it,” says Santino. “Who wants to go out and see people you don’t really like when you could just have your own party for one, roll a joint, order some tacos and watch YouTube all night? We think people are really going to relate to this one. It’s one of our new favorites.”

Whether you’re headed out or staying in, take “Homebody” with you below.
