Since we all pretty much hate our families these days, our prime idea of generations happily coming together involves genres over relatives. So as the calendar shifts from October to November and the holidays begin to come into view, we’re back in Allston tonight (November 1) to see She Wants Revenge roll into town with Manchester post-punk pioneers Chameleons for a joint-tour kickoff show at Brighton Music Hall in Allston.
We’re nearly 20 years removed from She Wants Revenge’s unfuckwithable 2005 debut album (“Tear You Apart” and “These Things” still slay) and nearly 40 from Chameleons’ masterful 1983 debut effort Script of the Bridge, so this is a layered nostalgia trip worth leaving the house over, even as a still tender Allston Village recovers from Halloween night.
“It’s amazing,” She Wants Revenge’s Justin Warfield says of the tour pairing. “Since the beginning we’ve had the good fortune to play with bands who we love and who influenced us. So to share the stage with them is incredible. It’s going to be a deep, beautiful night of music and we can’t wait.”
