The world is a ferocious shit-leopard and the future is bleaker than an encrusted anal bead served at supper, but sometimes the kids show they’re (more than) alright. The latest jolt of inspiration and perspiration comes from San Diego, where a post-punk garage rock band of 21 years olds called Blair Gun liven our moods and playlists with a fresh ripper called “Lemondrops.”
The track is all about existential Gen-Z ennui and giving into vices, which is something we can all relate to regardless of age, and has that West Coast bounce to it that should make it a hit at the skate park and surf shops.
It just dropped this week via Enabler No. 6 and SonaBLAST! Records, and we highly recommend it.
Blair Gun say this of their debut single: “It’s about an incurable feeling of dissatisfaction that you can’t escape, that follows you everywhere. It’s about seeking refuge in self-destructive vices and how counterproductive that can be.” Formed in early 2020 and forged during the pandemic, they describe their tunes as exploring themes of “personal autonomy, anti-masculinity, romantic detachment and nonsense for nonsense’s sake.”
Dig it.
