This Show Is Tonight: Echo & The Bunnymen have the night to themselves

Press photo

There was a mild panic across the Boston alternative underground earlier this year when both Echo & The Bunnymen and Bauhaus announced shows on the same night (September 13) and across the street from each other (House of Blues and MGM Music Hall, respectively). This goth edition of Sophie’s Choice was quickly quelled, however, with zero shows eventually landing on that original date: Echo rescheduled their performance to tonight (September 21), at the tail end of their North American tour, and Bauhaus pulled the plug on all their shows long before they even sniffed a sandwich shop on a Mass Pike rest stop. So we’re left here standing on Lansdowne awaiting Echo & The Bunnymen’s return this evening, bringing “40 Years of Magical Songs” to the House of Blues. Recent set lists prove the tagline for this tour is no lie, with a career-spanning set that includes all the songs you loved to learn and sing. Tonight they’ll do it clean, and do it without any competition next door.

ECHO & THE BUNNYMEN :: Wednesday, September 21 at House of Blues, 15 Lansdowne St. in Boston, MA :: 7 p.m., $55 :: Event page :: Advance tickets
