This Show Is Tonight: Clutch, Helmet, and Quicksand crash Boston

Back in June, it was hard to ignore a triple play of heaviness rolling through North America just after Labor Day, as Clutch, Helmet, and Quicksand would assemble for a 26-date jaunt across the states and Canada. The inspired tour kicked off this past Tuesday over the border in Toronto, and rolls into Boston tonight (September 15) for a heavy-as-prison-bricks spectacle at our very own House of Blues.

But the show has taken on added significance, as at midnight Clutch are set to unleash new album Sunrise on Slaughter Beach, the Maryland rock survivalists twelfth album (!!!) and now first in more than four years. So yeah, we’re declaring it the first (unofficial) record release party, even though the tour hits NYC tomorrow night and Clutch receive a deserved homecoming Saturday at Hammerjacks in Baltimore.

We’ve gotten a trio of sterling singles off the new Clutch LP, including “We Strive For Excellence,” a classic Clutch groove cruiser that frontman Neil Fallon says “looks back fondly on childhood summers filled with grand plans gone awry, inexplicable bruises, untreated injuries, and, of course, the timeless wisdom of Evel Knievel.”

Make sure you stretch out before this one.
