We’ve said it before and we’ll say it again: All The Wombats do is crank out jam after jam after jam. We’re all sitting here paralyzed by the world around us, afraid to even go to the store for milk, while the English band are perhaps experiencing a creative peak — nearly 20 years after formation. Earlier this year they released chart-topping album Fix Yourself, Not The World, and after a global headlining tour and appearance at Lollapalooza in Chicago, the trio is back today (August 16) with a glowing new track called “Is This What It Feels Like To Feel Like This?”
It sure does.
Soaring in its simplicity and catchiness, “Is This What It Feels Like To Feel Like This?” is the title track to a new Wombats EP, set for release November 18 digitally and on vinyl. It’s pure Wombats, but leaps out of the speakers with a certain freshness.
“I remember driving past an extremely rundown hotel and wondering what the hell could be going on in there, and that’s where this song was born, says Wombats frontman Matthew “Murph” Murphy. “It’s about catching someone in a compromising situation that’s very unusual for their specific character and is far more fitting for your own.”
Take this one outside and revel in it. It’s pure indie bliss.
