Salem Wolves rally for reproductive justice with new record ‘Live at ONCE’

Salem Wolves are putting their money where their “Hostile Music” is. In light of the Supreme Court’s recent decision to overturn Roe V. Wade, the Boston band has channeled their roughhousing rock into a new record titled Live at ONCE to raise funds for reproductive justice.

The 10-track album dropped earlier this week (July 27) on Bandcamp, nearly one year after the group recorded this particular set at ONCE Somerville’s summer home of sorts, Boynton Yards. Salem Wolves will donate all proceeds from record sales to the National Network of Abortion Funds, which aims to “remove financial and logistical barriers to abortion access by centering people who have abortions and organizing at the intersections of racial, economic, and reproductive justice.” The network’s website provides a wealth of resources, from lists of local abortion funds and clinics, to breakdowns of how Medicaid and abortion pills work.

“It’s a pretty hostile time by any metric you can think of,” says lead singer and guitarist Gray Bouchard. “Everyone in the band stands strongly against the ugly political maneuverings of the GOP, the conservative members of the Supreme Court, and the march to roll back basic human rights for women, people of color, LGBTQIA+ and other marginalized groups. Money talks loudest, so we’re fighting back the only way we know how by making sure everything we make on this record goes to NNAB.”

Check out a preview of Live at ONCE below, and then snag the whole album for $10 on Bandcamp.
