MyCompiledThoughts opens a portal to romance with his ‘Pentagon’ video

Music Video Still

Some people etch a pentagram into the floorboards to summon a pinch of love or lust, but MyCompiledThoughts prefers to bust out a pentagon.

The Boston singer swoons over three sweethearts in his video for “Pentagon” (released last week, July 1) but not before he second-guesses their intentions. “Promise me you’re different,” he pleads in the first verse, before gradually dropping his guard — and then some seductive beats.

The Bodega-Plus produced visual follows a sped-up storyline of doubt, duplicity, and what seems to be MyCompiledThoughts’ fictional demise, as he falls backwards towards a crystal-blue swimming pool, likely pushed in by a lover (although the “To Be Continued” tag at the end of the video implies there’s more to the story than we’re seeing now).

It’s an ironic choice for a finale, considering “Pentagon” itself tears open a half-portal, half-plunge to into MyCompiledThoughts’ realm of endless romance and plush R&B. “Can you fall into my world?” he asks in earnest. “Pentagon” answers for you — it’s pulling you in regardless, ready or not.
