The dudes in Foals have a new record called Life Is Yours coming out this Friday (June 17), and now that have a matching-title tour that’s set to end 2022 on a high note. The British indie band confirmed the 25-date North American run earlier today, and it wraps with a pair of New England shows right before Santa arrives: December 17 at Boston’s Roadrunner and the following night at State Theatre in Portland, Maine. Tickets for all dates on the Life Is Yours tour will go on sale Friday at 10 a.m. local time.
Recently, Foals dropped a disco-kissed tune fit for summer playlists in “2001,” and here’s what Yannis Philippakis has to say about it: “‘2001’ feels like a postcard from the past. We moved to Brighton around that time, we were a young band, and there was the feeling of the first taste of independence. The moment you get those freedoms, you’re surrounded by temptation. The references to beachside candy and Brighton rock are symbols for drugs and hedonism. This was written in the depths of the pandemic winter, and there’s an escapist desire to break out from the feeling of being cooped up, both in terms of the pandemic and adolescence.”
We’ll be feeling that mood come December, no doubt. Get all the dates below, and fire up “2001” to put a bounce in your Monday step.
