Boston Calling 2022: Photos from Day 1 on the Tivoli Audio Orange Stage

Editor’s Note: Sometimes at a music festival, the area designated as the “local stage” has a negative connotation. It could be where it’s located, it could be who is playing it, it could be a lack of interest from the festival crowd. That was not the case at Boston Calling’s Tivoli Audio Orange Stage on Friday (May 28), where a quartet of homegrown bands and artists — The Chelsea Curve, Miranda Rae, Avenue, and Born Without Bones — all held court with healthy crowds assembled for each performance. There might have been more recognizable names (for now) playing on the other three stages around the sprawling Harvard Athletic Complex, but on Friday the place to be was the spot where the Boston in Boston Calling was amped up to max volume.
