For years, Rilla Force has been rising and grinding. Today (May 6), he makes the deliberate choice to rise and shine — that is, bask in the golden glow of his accomplishments.
“Cherish,” Rilla’s elastic new single, taps Cadeem LaMarr to honor the fruits of each artist’s endless elbow grease. The jaunty track finds the pair bouncing away from a hypercritical headspace that overlooks creative progress — a common trap many folks fall into somewhere between “rise” and “grind.” Through “Cherish,” Rilla Force radically refuses to let inconveniences and exhaustion overshadow hard-earned musical gains.
“This song represents my self-awareness as an artist,” he tells Vanyaland. “We all have ups and downs, we all don’t get paid on time, and we all have moments where an opportunity turns into a waste of time. All that to say, it’s super important to acknowledge all of your milestones, grand or insignificant. Taking the time to be your own cheerleader is much needed for your creative output, and it’s one of the many reasons why I wanted Cadeem on the song.”
As co-cheerleader, LaMarr joins Rilla in the song’s healthy perspective, which Rilla cites as a “big part of [his] growth as an artist.”
“I’ve known Cadeem for a while now and ever since we’ve met I feel like we both have been on a similar path as musicians,” he notes. “Starting as producer/DJ roles in our respective careers, now moving into the singer/songwriter side of things, I know that we both have done so much in such a short amount of time.”
In other words — across multiple disciplines, both artists plenty to cherish. Join the celebration below.
