Australian alternative rock luminaries Gang of Youths are set to embark on a North American tour this week, the first of two runs that conclude in the fall. Before it all kicks off Thursday night (April 21) in Wisconsin, Dave Le’aupepe and the boys dropped by The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon to show just what all the fuss is about. Gang of Youths performed “in the wake of your leave”, a song with lower-case stylization but upper-case ambition, and is one of many notable selections from the band’s February album angel in realtime.
Gang of Youths are getting global attention for their authentic brand of rock and roll that feels like it’s crafted from a bygone era, and this late-night television performance echoes that sentiment in all its glorious sweat and vigor.
Watch it below, but not before scanning through all of Gang of Youths upcoming live dates in our part of the world, including a fast-approaching May 9 throw down at Boston’s Paradise Rock Club. That one shouldn’t be missed.
