We cover Sunflower Bean quite a bit on these digital pages, but that’s because each new track from the New York trio brings with it a genuine excitement that cascades over us with each initial listen. This week’s new single “Roll The Dice,” which dropped Monday (March 7), is a glacial alt-pop tune with a heavy low-end and dual vocals from vocalist and bassist Julia Cumming and guitarist and vocalist Nick Kivlen. It’s from their forthcoming album Headful of Sugar, out May 6 via Mom + Pop, and it’s hypnotic and assertive at the same time. And it’s about your side hustle. “Almost everyone we know struggles with money,” the band says. “The traditional routes towards success and stability in America have severely narrowed. The only way to get ahead is to take big risks and roll the dice.” Clickety-clack.
