Tempers‘ forthcoming album New Meaning has been slowly unfolding like chapters. Now the New York electronic-pop duo’s latest adds a captivating audio-visual component to its spectral sonics, through an official video for the cascading “Sightseeing” directed by Clayton McCracken (Charli XCX, Erick The Architect). The Los Angeles-based director, editor, and “video synthesist” fills the screen with Tempers’ musical moods by utilizing touchdesigner programming, vintage video technology, 3D animation, and live improvisation.
“‘Sightseeing’ looks at the thrill and struggle of urban life,” says Tempers’ Jasmine Golestaneh. “It’s a song about finding meaning by constantly dissolving, renewing, and redefining oneself, amidst the machinery of the city. The video explores how psychic traces left by memory can transform architecture, and animate parallel worlds. It’s also a continuation of an ongoing theme in our work, investigating the relationship between public and private space.”
It’s a pretty spectacular match, and furthers the mystique of New Meaning, set for April 1 release via Dais Records. Experience the visual below, and scan through all of Tempers’ upcoming live appearances before the jump.
