Wet Leg confront our sense of disenchantment on the tingly ‘Angelica’

It’s an undisputed fact that this is the greatest time in history to be a Wet Leg fan. The celebrated Isle of Wight duo of Rhian Teasdale and Hester Chambers are pretty much everyone’s new favorite band, and their breakout hit “Chaise Longue” appeared on pretty much every single Best of 2021 list in existence (including ours, yeah c’mon).

Now their self-titled debut album is out in a few short weeks (April 8 via Domino), and they’re embarking on a North American tour that hits Boston’s Paradise Rock Club on March 7. Enter a new single and video for the tingly “Angelica,” a lively sun-kissed jam about parties and regret that surfaces on screens both streaming n’ dreaming this gloomy Monday afternoon (February 28).

“It’s laced with disenchantment,” says Teasdale. “Even though the chorus is ‘good times, all the time.’ That’s just impossible, isn’t it?”

The “Angelica” visual was self-directed by the band and filmed shot on their homeland. It makes us wonder if “good times, all the time” is, in fact, quite possible. With Wet Leg, nothing is off the table — even our seemingly never-ending sense of disenchantment.
