After a string of ace collaborations with the likes of V faves and cap-friendly artists VERITE, A R I Z O N A, and UPSAHL, slimdan is ready to make a name for himself. The Los Angeles singer, songwriter, and multi-Instrumentalist — who spent four years attending college here in Boston and co-wrote his BFF Sasha Sloan’s “Older”, yeah — hits this week with a sterling tune of his own, a noisy alt-pop twirl around static-haze reflection called “Be Somebody.”

In it, slimdan (real name Danny Silberstein) reaches out to his younger self, but references to The Bachelor, masturbation, and that crippling sense of self-doubt we all seem to be saddled with well into adulthood, gives it a more universal appeal.

“‘Be Somebody’ is a song about me having a conversation with my teenage self,” says slimdan. “At the time it was written, I was 24 years old living in my parents house and musical directing bar mitzvahs. I’m pretty sure I texted my mom to get more cereal before walking into the session to write it, lol. I made this with Ryan Linvill and Noah Conrad and the intro to the song is a clip used from a snoring app that recorded me sleep talking to my wife.”

We’ve all been there. Which part? All of it.
