It’s been quite some time since Jimmy O. Yang was last on stage in Boston, but he’s been busy out there making it happen in a myriad of ways, so his imminent return to the city, with a handful of acting credits and a stand-up special to his name, couldn’t be looked at as any more of a reason to celebrate than it already is.

As announced this week, the Crazy Rich Asians actor will be making his way to Boston’s Wilbur Theatre on Friday, February 25. Not only does the trek to the Theater District mark Yang’s first Boston show since 2018, but it also marks his very first time taking the Wilbur stage. In addition to his role on Silicon Valley (which ran for five seasons on HBO between 2014 and 2019), Yang can be seen as the star of Steve Byrne’s The Opening Act, in addition to his first one-hour stand-up special Good Deal, which premiered on Amazon Prime Video in 2020.

Also announced to start off the new year, stand-up comedian and Daily Show correspondent Michael Kosta will be making his way back to the area for the first time since 2017, with a show at Somerville’s Crystal Ballroom on Friday, March 4. In addition to his role as part of the Daily Show team, you can check out the former Tennis pro’s comedy chops in his first stand-up album, Comedy For Attractive People, which dropped in 2014, as well as his debut one-hour special, Detroit. NY. LA., which premiered on Comedy Central in 2020.

In addition to the new shows announced, Saturday Night Live alum and 30 Rock star Tracy Morgan has also added a 9:45 p.m. late show to his rescheduled and long-awaited return to The Wilbur on Saturday, April 30. While his past work is legendary in its own right, you can also find Morgan’s latest stand-up special, 2017’s Staying Alive on Netflix, as well his starring role in the TBS comedy series The Last O.G. alongside Tiffany Haddish, which just wrapped its fourth season for the network in December 2021.

Tickets to these shows are on pre-sale starting today (January 5) at noon EST, and can be accessed using the code VANYA. General on-sale begins Friday (January 7) at noon EST.
