Editor’s Note: Usually, the best part about the comedy scene blossoming in and around Boston this time of year is that there is never a shortage of shows to check out, as homegrown talent, national headliners, and open mics galore make their way through and around the area. But this year just feels different, as live entertainment is slowly making its way back into our social calendar. We always want to make sure you know about cool stuff going on in the world of comedy, so check back each week for our ongoing Mic’d Up series, detailing the best live comedy shows to consider as you head back out. Below find our rundown for this week, through Sunday (December 12).
***
Sal Vulcano at Chevalier Theatre
Whether he’s behind a wall with a headset, or behind a mic with an arsenal of good laughs, it’s almost always a guaranteed good time with Sal Vulcano. The Impractical Jokers star hasn’t been in the stand-up all that long, and he’ll be the first to admit that he isn’t the best in the biz, but that isn’t important. What is important is the good times and fun vibes you’ll be feeling well after the night is up.
Friday, December 10 :: 7:30 p.m. :: Chevalier Theatre, 30 Forest St. in Medford, MA :: Tickets are $42 to $62
Emily Ruskowski at The Comedy Attic
One of Boston’s most relatable voices is bringing it to Worcester this weekend, and should not be missed. Whether it’s everyday observations, or the plethora of 90’s pop culture references, Ruskowski’s down-to-earth and innate storytelling abilities should have you flocking to The Attic.
Friday, December 10 to Saturday, December 11 :: 8 p.m. both shows :: The Comedy Attic, 257 Park Ave. in Worcester, MA :: Tickets are $20
Will Smalley‘s Big Queer Comedy Christmas Miracle at Nick’s Comedy Stop
If “bringing a wild dose of holiday hilarity to the masses” is part of The Santa Clause, then Will Smalley could suit up for that gig this weekend. Joined by some of his favorite LGBTQ+ comedians, the local favorite is spreading all kinds of Christmas cheer with his first edition of what he hopes to be an annual thing.
Saturday, December 11 :: 8 p.m. :: Nick’s Comedy Stop, 100 Warrenton St. in Boston, MA :: Tickets are $20
Ophira Eisenberg at Mosesian Center For The Arts
With one of the sharpest and intuitive comedy minds around, Eisenberg’s visit to the area is an absolute gem of an idea for a night out. Always equipped with thought-provoking and side-splitting anecdotes, the comedian and author is always worth your time.
Saturday, December 11 :: Mosesian Center For The Arts, 321 Arsenal St. in Watertown, MA :: 8 p.m. :: Tickets are $27 to $32
