It feels like an eternity since we last heard from “Weird Al” Yankovic, but praise be to Harvey The Wonder Hamster, he’s officially making his way back to the stage — and he’ll be there for a good long while.
As announced today (December 3), Yankovic will embark on a massive 133-show North American tour starting on April 26, 2022, dubbed The Unfortunate Return of the Ridiculously Self-Indulgent, Ill-Advised Vanity Tour. The extensive trek will take all over the states and Canada, with a handful of New England dates along the way, including New Bedford’s Zeiterion Performing Arts Center (April 29), Hampton Beach Casino Ballroom (May 1), Medford’s Chevalier Theatre (May 6 and 7), and Northampton’s Calvin Theatre (August 5).
The scaled-down nature of the tour is a rekindled edition of The Weird One’s wildly successful 2018 tour, in which he focused nearly his entire setlist exclusively on original work every show, and stripped away the multimedia extravaganza that has made his shows a must-see experience for generations of fans.
Additionally, comedy legend and close personal friend of Al, Emo Phillips will reprise his slot as the opener for the entirety of the tour, as he did in 2018.
