Editor’s Note: Usually, the best part about the comedy scene blossoming in and around Boston this time of year is that there is never a shortage of shows to check out, as homegrown talent, national headliners, and open mics galore make their way through and around the area. But this year just feels different, as live entertainment is slowly making its way back into our social calendar. We always want to make sure you know about cool stuff going on in the world of comedy, so check back each week for our ongoing Mic’d Up series, detailing the best live comedy shows to consider as you head back out. Below find our rundown for this week, through Sunday (November 7).

***

Nore Davis: November 5 at The 420 Loft

Over the years, Nore Davis has consistently built a solid foundation of comedy and social commentary, brick by brick. Especially with his latest album, which was performed over Zoom during quarantine in 2020, Davis has cemented his place in the comedy game as one of the straight-to-the-heart, honest voices behind the mic, and catching him in action should be high up on your comedy to-do list.

Friday, November 5 :: 8:30 p.m. :: The 420 Loft, private location (released via email 24 hours prior to the show) :: Tickets are $20

Mark Normand: November 5 to 6 at Laugh Boston

There’s no shortage of comedians who value shock comedy. But none of them do it quite like Mark Normand, and that’s what makes him one of the best. Delivering some of the hardest hitting, out-of-left-field material of the modern era, the special ingredient that makes Normand’s approach all the more intriguing is that, without a shadow of a doubt, he’s just telling jokes. He could make you laugh, cry, or cringe. But it’s never a question as to whether or not he’s having fun with it.

Friday, November 5 and Saturday November 6 :: Friday at 7:30 p.m. and 9:45 p.m.; Saturday at 5 p.m., 7:30 p.m., and 9:45 p.m. :: Laugh Boston, 425 Summer St. in Boston, MA :: Tickets are $29

Marlon Wayans: November 6 at The Wilbur Theatre

The namesake is obviously a dead giveaway that Marlon Wayans is a comedy powerhouse. But, as seen in his stand-up approach over the years and a pair of specials to boot, the youngest sibling of the comedy superfamily certainly isn’t letting his name carry him. Always elevating his game to the next level, there’s a lot packed into a Marlon Wayans stand-up set that makes his show a very worthwhile time spent.

Saturday, November 6 :: 7 p.m. :: The Wilbur Theatre, 246 Tremont St. in Boston, MA :: Tickets are $30 to $50

Randy Rainbow: November 7 at Chevalier Theatre

Music, stand-up, satire — Randy Rainbow covers it all. With a wide array of musical and comedic talent, no topic is off-limits as the bespectacled comic pokes and jabs at everything from politics to pop culture in a multi-faceted performance that you don’t want to miss.

Sunday, November 7 :: 3 p.m. and 7 p.m. :: Chevalier Theatre, 30 Forest St. in Medford, MA :: Tickets are $57 to $177
