Editor’s Note: Usually, the best part about the comedy scene blossoming in and around Boston this time of year is that there is never a shortage of shows to check out, as homegrown talent, national headliners, and open mics galore make their way through and around the area. But this year just feels different, as live entertainment is slowly making its way back into our social calendar. We always want to make sure you know about cool stuff going on in the world of comedy, so check back each week for our ongoing Mic’d Up series, detailing the best live comedy shows to consider as you head back out. Below find our rundown for this week, through Sunday (October 31).
Kiran Deol: October 27 at Laugh Boston
In the realm of content creation, there’s nothing Kiran Deol can’t do. As an accomplished filmmaker, actor and stand-up comedian, Deol’s keen perspective and delivery have rightfully made her one of the brightest riding stars in the game, and we think it’d be a good idea to catch her in action now before her ascension hits warp speed.
Wednesday, October 27 :: Laugh Boston, 425 Summer St. in Boston :: Tickets are $20
Ashley Gavin: October 28 to 29 at White Bull Tavern
While her overall comedic chops are impressive to say the least, Ashley Gavin has continued to consistently break down barriers in the comedy game, in respects to furthering the conversation and bringing about issues faced by the LGBTQ+ community. With impenetrable observational wit and thought-provoking perspective and social commentary, there’s no wonder why Gavin’s latest trek to the city is sold out.
Thursday, October 28 and Friday, October 29 :: 8 p.m. & 10:30 p.m. (Thursday), 7:30 p.m. (Friday) :: White Bull Tavern, 1 Union St. in Boston :: All shows sold out
Boo-tenanny: October 30 at Nick’s Bar
Its always a blast when Sean Connolly and the WOOtenanny crew throw a shin dig, but during Halloween weekend, it’s an all-out graveyard smash this time around. With music, prizes, and comedy from the likes of Brieana Woodward, Angela Sawyer and more, you’d be hard-pressed to find more fun in one place to indulge in some spectacularly “spoopy” fun.
Saturday, October 30 :: 8 p.m. :: Nick’s Bar & Restaurant, 124 Millbury St. in Worcester :: Pay what you can
Nightmare on Summer Street: October 31 at Laugh Boston
One, two, the Boston arts scene is coming for you. With a full stockade of music, comedy, a smattering of burlesque and more, this show is shaping up to be a frighteningly grand time to celebrate Halloween in the Seaport. This special of the recurring Sunday Escape will feature a whole slew of spooky and silly fun, complete with live comedy from Corey Manning, Jay Whittaker, and Tooky Kavanagh.
Sunday, October 31 :: 4 p.m. :: Laugh Boston, 425 Summer St. in Boston :: Tickets are $35
