One of the biggest surprises at Fantastic Fest this year was Joe Begos’ VFW, which, in retrospect, our skepticism about it now feels kind of silly. After all, this has pretty much everything a fan of brutal exploitation homages could hope for: A stacked genre cast, including Stephen Lang, William Sadler, Martin Kove, David Patrick Kelly, George Wendt and the Hammer himself, Fred Williamson; insane violence and dirty humor; and a compelling aesthetic and story. We had a blast with it, and now RLJE Films wants to show you a little bit of the film in the form of this wild-ass trailer that they dropped for it on Tuesday night. It whips ass, and you should definitely go ahead and take that coffee break and watch it right the fuck now. Bob from HR can wait.

Take a look:

Now that’s only a brief glimpse of the plentiful mayhem that Begos and company have in store for you in the full film, but this trailer does a pretty amazing job at pumping you up to watch it. Hell, we were throwing up the horns and doing metal licks on our mouth guitars while watching this motherfucker, and we’ve already seen the damn movie! Seriously though, if you like your action old-school, grimy and bloody as fuck, you better see this shit when it comes out.

Here’s a synopsis:

“A typical night for a group of war veterans at the local VFW turns into an all-out battle for survival when a teenage girl runs into the bar with a bag of stolen drugs. Suddenly under attack from a gang of punk mutants looking to get back what’s theirs – at any cost – the vets use every weapon they can put together to protect the girl, and their VFW, in the biggest fight of their lives.”

VFW hits theaters and VOD on February 14. Read our review from Fantastic Fest below.
