Surely you’ve heard of “the greatest band on Earth” — comedic rock duo Tenacious D. Formed 25 years ago by Jack Black and Kyle Gass, the band released their first album in 2001, and played at the Web Theater in Phoenix October of that same year. Last night (October 23) The D returned to Phoenix after 18 years, bringing the Post-Apocalypto Tour to Comerica Theater. The tour kicked off last November with the release of their fourth studio album, Post-Apocalypto, the accompanying soundtrack to the duo’s animated YouTube series, and concludes nearly a year later at the Wiltern in Los Angeles next week. The live show consists of two parts: The entirety of Post-Apocalypto played from behind a curtain featuring projected animations, and a more intimate and energizing performance of the classics. Get a look at the visuals from the show below.
