Multi-instrumentalist Bryce Avary exploded onto to the indie-pop scene as a teenager in the early 2000s with his solo-project, The Rocket Summer. With each new release, an evolution has been evident, each receiving more praise than the last, and last month, Avary released his seventh LP, Sweet Shivers. The first album to be fully mixed by himself achieves new dimensions sonically, and echoes a new beginning as a fully independent artist. The Rocket Summer's 2019 U.S. tour kicked off Tuesday night (September 10) in Phoenix, playing a two-hour set filled with new and old to a fully enamored crowd at The Rebel Lounge. Phoenix locals STOX, who released their debut EP back in May opened up the evening, setting the tone with hope-filled positive vibes.
