Photo Gallery: Flying Lotus live in 3D at Boston’s House of Blues

Editor’s Note: Flying Lotus is one thing (one very good thing), but Flying Lotus in 3D is another beast entirely. That’s the experience the Los Angeles producer brought to Boston’s House of Blues on Tuesday night (August 27), the latest stop on his tour to hype May’s Flamagra LP. The crowd wore 3D glasses as the visuals behind Flying Lotus jumped off the screen, featuring David Lynch, Mac Miller, Ras G and others, all weaved into the musician’s work while perched within a giant alien-esque pedestal. “Everyone loved the 3D animation, it worked really well and was an evolution of his multi-screen setup,” says Bina Zafar, who photographed the show for Vanyaland.  “The crowd was mesmerized. The balcony was packed with everyone who just wanted to sit and watch through the bars… All the graphics, animation, artwork was weird and awesome.” Joining Flying Lotus on the bill were Brandon Coleman Spacetalker, Salami Rose Joe Louis, and PBDY, and you can view images of all performances through Zafar’s lens below.
