Sad Sad Girls make their goth-country debut with ‘His Hands’

We can’t blame Sad Sad Girls for wanting to establish that they can write a good country dirge right from the jump. Stirring up a sandstorm of amorous grief in the Southwest, the Phoenix-based group shared their first ever single “His Hands” earlier this month (June 5), bolstering the sadcore cred in their name. Coming from any other genre — namely emo or indie — a line like “Would you love me if I was a little more broken?” would offer a knee-jerk reaction of an instant eye roll, but when lead singer Cayce Jane utters the words over her gothic country lament, the lovelorn plea checks out. Peep the group’s debut below.
