While Noel Gallagher and his High Flying Birds are busy taking you to the “dad disco”, it’s clear Liam Gallagher wants to take you to the stadium, surrounded by rock and roll, a fresh pint in one hand and grand ambition in the other.

The Oasis frontman returns today with the first blast of forthcoming sophomore album Why Me? Why Not, and it’s a massive tune that should serve as a crowd-pleaser for his fans.

The track is called “Shockwave,” and it’s a riotous and riffy guitar-rock jam that’s a bit Gary Glitter’s “Rock And Roll Part 2”, a bit BRMC’s “Spread Your Love”, a few bits Beatles, and several bits brash Liam Gallagher rock star bravado. It feels like he wrote a song for the stadiums, and we have no doubt it’ll be played on big speakers around the world to get us fired up for the game on the field.

It sounds pretty huge right off the jump.
