HarpoonFest Spotlight: The Maxims
What Vanyaland Says: Many may preach a Rock City lifestyle, but The Maxims live it. The Boston garage trio led by Avi Meyers (guitar and vocals), Matt Girard (bass), and John Drislane (drums) create a raucous torrent of sound reflected deep in Boston’s rock and roll history, and feel like the perfect band to cap off a weekend of live music at this year’s HarpoonFest as they fill the final slot Saturday (May 18) on Stage 2. Before they dropped their Rock City album last fall, The Maxims set a noisy tone for 2018 with January’s “Endless Mind” video, of which we wrote: “The trippy visuals of the clip play a complementary role to the track’s manipulative rock and roll swagger; its a confident, sly stomper showing off a band years beyond their age, the type of jam that likely sounds better on cracked vinyl.” Or after a weekend spent at HarpoonFest!
