If you're a Boston-based cinephile, this is undoubtedly one of the most exciting times of the year for you, as the Independent Film Festival Boston has returned with one of their strongest line-ups ever. Running from April 24 through May 1 at the Brattle, Somerville and Coolidge Corner Theatres, there's so many great movies showing at this year's festival that we've had to split our preview up into three parts. We published our first preview on Tuesday, covering the first few days of the festival's line-up, and our second preview on Wednesday, covering the weekend offerings. Finally, here are some choice cuts from the last three days of the festival's programming. Tickets and more information are available at the IFFBoston website.

The Sound of Silence

Tuesday, April 30 at 7 p.m. at the Coolidge Corner Theatre

Hey, you know who’s great? Peter Sarsgaard, that’s who, and his latest starring role in this drama about the profession of house-tuning has received raves from Sundance audiences. Sarasgaard plays Peter, a self-taught scientist who believes that he can cure any number of modern ailments — depression, exhaustion, anxiety — by analyzing the acoustics of one’s home, and making slight changes to their sonic environment. A normal house-call from a skeptical young woman (Rashida Jones) throws his entire worldview into chaos, and Peter’s forced to question his whole existence. A first feature from director Michael Tyburski, this film looks to examine all the rhythms that we don’t acknowledge often in our day-to-day lives, until they intrude in our private spaces.
