If you're a Boston-based cinephile, this is undoubtedly one of the most exciting times of the year for you, as the Independent Film Festival Boston has returned with one of their strongest line-ups ever. Running from April 24 through May 1 at the Brattle, Somerville and Coolidge Corner Theatres, there's so many great movies showing at this year's festival that we've had to split our preview up into three parts. We published our first preview on Tuesday, covering the first few days of the festival's line-up and you should check back soon for the third piece about what's in store over the next week or so. For now, here are some choice cuts from Saturday and Sunday of the festival's programming. Tickets and more information are available at the IFFBoston website.

Wild Rose

Sunday, April 28, at 6 p.m. at the Brattle Theatre

Rose-Lynn Harlan (Jessie Buckley) is a hard-living Scottish country singer who’s back on the streets of Glasgow after a stint in the pen. A mother of two who has problems with her own mother, she dreams of the day when she can pack her bags and move to Nashville, where fame and fortune surely await her. Tom Harper’s musical drama was the lone movie about a struggling singer looking to make it big that we missed at TIFF last year (though we most definitely wished we’d sat through this instead of Vox Lux), and Buckley’s work has attracted raves from the people who have seen it so far. Mainly, we’re just pumped to hear some Emmylou on the big screen once again.
