Will Smith must fight a younger Fresh Prince in the ‘Gemini Man’ trailer

Hey, you know what’s a great movie? Face/Off, that’s what. It’s been almost 22 years since Nicolas Cage and John Travolta graced our screens in that John Woo-directed epic action film, and we couldn’t help but think all about it while watching the trailer for Gemini Man, a long-gestating project that’s finally being brought to the big screen by Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon director Ang Lee.

Why? Well, the poster didn’t help matters, but it’s mainly the seriously goofy ’90s action vibes we’re getting here that makes things feel familiar. But seriously, we’re all on board to watch Will Smith play with himself all day long as a retiring assassin who gets pursued by a younger and better clone of himself (thanks, creepy de-aging technology!). Yes, that premise is ridiculous and wonderful, much like this goofy-ass trailer.

Take a look:

Here’s a synopsis via Paramount:

“‘Gemini Man‘ is an innovative action-thriller starring Will Smith as Henry Brogan, an elite assassin, who is suddenly targeted and pursued by a mysterious young operative that seemingly can predict his every move. The film is directed by Academy Award-winning filmmaker Ang Lee and produced by renown producers Jerry Bruckheimer, David Ellison, Dana Goldberg and Don Granger. Also starring are Mary Elizabeth Winstead, Clive Owen and Benedict Wong. “

And here’s the new poster for the film:

Gemini Man will annihilate your eyeballs at your local movie theater on October 11. We can only hope that Lee manages to get the Fresh Prince back in the booth to record a new throwback jam called “Gemini, Man” or something. We’d buy that soundtrack album on cassette in a heartbeat and listen to it on our Walkman as we rollerbladed around the neighborhood looking for our lost Pogs. Take us back to 1997, Fresh Prince: If they can make you young again, they can do anything.
