Take “Night Time, My Time” and make it grunge: That’s the newfangled approach that Sky Ferreira has chosen for her long-awaited return to the musical realm. After dropping her 2013 debut record Night Time, My Time, an LP bursting with with pop gems like “You’re Not the One” and “Boys,” the singer has resurfaced six years later with her new song “Downhill Lullaby,” out today (March 27). The tune’s rather morose, bass-heavy vibrations match the title of her forthcoming sophomore album Masochism; “Downhill Lullaby” artfully trudges along like ’90s-era alternative with the violent lyrics to match. Tune in below.
