Tourist and Gilligan Moss live at Sonia in Cambridge

Photo Gallery: Will Phillips brought his 'Everyday' appreciation to Central Square on Wednesday night

Editor’s Note: There are few things we enjoy more than when a band or artist’s album release lines up with a live appearance here in town. That was the case this month with Tourist, as British producer Will Phillips released his latest record, atmospheric and unpredictable 10-track electronic-pop odyssey titled Everyday this past Friday, then followed up the drop with a visit last night (February 20) to Sonia in Cambridge. The enhanced light show and Tourist’s own burning of incense added an extra layer of ambience to the show, which kicked off his North American tour. And the whole thing is a mood. “’Everyday’ is my attempt to make an album that reflects my life in a way that is hopefully sincere and honest,” Phillips says. “I’m happy now, and much of this music is simply the result of me enjoying the creative process and exploring how sounds can make me feel. It’s about being vulnerable, unsure, joyous, bored, wistful and everything in-between that doesn’t fit into being happy or sad.” Vanyaland’s María Alejandra Mata was at the Central Square venue to capture some visuals, as well as a few of opener Gilligan Moss, and you can scan through her full gallery below in order of appearance.
