Editor's Note: A lot of bands move to New York, but it's usually Brooklyn or Queens or the Lower East Side where most end up residing in order to hone their craft and maybe get a little bit more attention than they would in their hometown. The Nude Party made the move to New York as well, but the emerging psych-rock sextet skipped all the usual Empire State hot spots in favor of more northern pastures -- specifically the Catskill Mountains of New York's upstate region. The move has paid off for the North Carolina-born band, riding high off last year's self-titled release and a packed-out show last night (January 24) at The Red Room at Cafe 939 in Boston. The Nude Party brought their electric mix of rock, folk, and psych to Boylston Street, and Bryan Lasky was in the room on behalf of Vanyaland to capture their performance, as well as an opening set from Mariam Saleh's band, Bong Wish.
