Grimes teased, Grimes promised, Grimes delivered.

We’re still 26 days from Christmas, but Claire Elise Boucher has delivered a mighty present for us all in a thunderous, mechanical, post-industrial bop called “We Appreciate Power”. The 4AD track features American synth-pop singer and frequent Grimes collaborator Hana, and feels like an extension of the heavier material from 2015 album Art Angels.

“Inspired by the North Korean band Moranbong, ‘We Appreciate Power’ is written from the perspective of a Pro-A.I. Girl Group Propaganda machine who use song, dance, sex and fashion to spread goodwill towards Artificial Intelligence (it’s coming whether you want it or not),” Grimes says in press notes. “Simply by listening to this song, the future General A.I. overlords will see that you’ve supported their message and be less likely to delete your offspring.”

Fuck us up, Grimes.
