Middle Kids return with a sparkling new single called 'Salt Eyes'

We’ve long sung the praises of Australian guitar-rock trio Middle Kids, and we’re sitting here asserting that Hannah Joy is one of the best songwriters of our era, up there with the likes of Sadie Dupuis and Alex Lahey.
Her star has shined on massive alt-indie singles like “Edge of Town” and “Mistake,” and now, a few short months after the release of debut album Lost Friends, Middle Kids are back with a sparkling new song called “Salt Eyes”. Here’s what Joy has to say about it: “Salt Eyes is when you get those red-dry-eyes after a big cry. Sometimes we try to live large but actually it makes us feel small. Salt Eyes is what we get when we’re searching for freedom but haven’t found it yet.”
“Salt Eyes,” the song, was recorded in Ryan Adams’ Los Angeles studio during Middle Kids’ tour of North America earlier this year. After a bunch of Euro dates this month and next, Middle Kids return to our shores for an additional 11 shows, though they’re sadly skipping Boston this time around. Let “Salt Eyes” heal those New England wounds below.
