Bully live at The Sinclair in Cambridge

Editor's Note: A Bully rolled into Cambridge on Friday night (September 28) and everyone was cool with it. The Nashville rock band led by singer and guitarist Alicia Bognanno pulled into The Sinclair and delivered one of the more raw live performances we've seen in some time, and Vanyaland's Scott Murry was in the room to observe, witness, and photograph. "Bognanno approached the stage in a hand-made shirt reading 'I Believe Her'," Murry reports. "One could surmise she was referencing Christine Blasey Ford whom has spoken of sexual assault allegations committed by Supreme Court nominee Brett Kavanaugh. The audience tore into supportive howls and cheers." Murry continues: "Bully's 2017 sophomore album Losing exposes raw nerves. Bognanno's voice is scathing and powerful as she outlines multiple shades of rage from a breakup. In the live setting Bully were just as dynamic, a sonic declaration of self that refuses to be sidelined. The band's caustic sensibilities reflect this unhemmed tension." And that was on full display Friday night. Second Note: A delay in securing photo credentials from Bully's camp forced us to miss an opening set by Boston's Honey Cutt, and that's a bummer because they rule.
