There’s roughly 11 days left in summer — yeah we said it; summer ends on Labor Day, none of that September 22 bullshit — and we’re still not sure of our official Song of the Summer 2k18. We’ve hyped tracks by Petrie and Teen Ravine as total contenders, but the field is still wide open. The more we think on this, the more we feel like Courtney Barnett’s “Charity” is probably the call here. That guitar line is all sorts of delicious, and Barnett has that effortless type of summer cool we all aspire to capture. Anyway, “Charity” finally has a video to show of its summertime flair, helmed by cinematographer Ashley Connor and shot to 16mm film. It shows Barnett spending the day around Toronto, and that’s our idea of a cool hang. Once we get through all this summer nonsense, we can shift the conversation to where Barnett’s May album Tell Me How You Really Feel lands in our Best of 2018 lists.
