The Joy Formidable mess with our senses in video for ‘The Wrong Side’

Yesterday we hyped a new visual from Aphex Twin, one that failed the Harding test, a mandatory protective measure to shield television viewers with epilepsy. Today we’re back with another trippy visual, this time from The Joy Formidable.

It’s for their new single “The Wrong Side”, and much like how intense videos match the music of Aphex, this one aligns nicely with the Welsh trio’s torrent of guitar rock. We’re not sure if it will cause seizures, but it is making us freak out in anticipation for Joy Form’s new album, the wonderfully-titled AAARTH. That hits September 28 via Hassle Records.

“This is our second collab with TRLLM,” state Joy Formidable, via Billboard, in reference to the creators of the video. “We love their imagination and like all our favorite artists; they’re not afraid to make it weird. They had the background to the song, how lyrically it’s pieced like a collage from memories and snippets of time and they used that, along with the album artwork to create this experimental, multi-colored dream sequence that we think captures this track beautifully.”

Feeling it. The Joy Formidable have a bunch of North American tour dates lined up for the rest of this summer and fall, and on November 6 they hit The Sinclair in Cambridge with Tancred. Since they’re one of our finest modern rock and roll bands, we endorse the show mightily.
