It’s Friday, and we’re a bit lost in a daydream. So once we took one look at the new press photo of E^ST, shown up top ^^^, we got mentally and emotionally transported back to the very early-’90s when we all rocked Skidz to school. Staying on brand, the new single from E^ST, titled “I Don’t Lack Imagination”, accompanies the pic and harkens back to that era as well, cruising on a care-free R&B groove that belies the song’s lyrical content about unmet expectations. “This song is about building up an idea of someone in your mind,” says the blossoming 20-year-old Australian artist, “but then when you actually get to hang with them and get to know them you realize they’re pretty lame and nowhere near as cool as you preconceived them to be. An ode to all the bad first dates we suffer through.” We have a feeling no one’s felt that way about E^ST (pronounced “East”), who seems chill as fuck. We wanna hang with her and her crew.
