Since its creation a decade ago, Captured Tracks has been continuously providing music lovers with their new favorite artists and bands. Seemingly next in line, for us anyway, is Molly Burch, who enraptures listeners this week with “Wild”, the lead single from the Los Angeles-born, Texas-based musician’s sophomore album First Flower. The new LP hits October 5 via Captured Tracks, and the fluttery guitar-pop of “Wild” and its tone of seeking self-acceptance sets a striking mood. “I wanted to write a song that made me feel at peace with my imperfections and celebrate others without putting them on pedestals” says Burch in a press release, later adding that the single “shines light on the absurdity of the ‘grass is always greener’ mentality. I think for the most part we all share pretty similar fears and insecurities. Or at least that’s what I’m hoping.” Burch also heads out on a fall North American tour that takes her to Cambridge’s Middle East Up on October 14. You might want to get tickets in advance to that one. Featured image by Kelly Giarrocco.
