Aimee Mann, “Ghost World” from Bachelor No. 2 Or, The Last Remains of the Dodo (2000)

Suggested by Scott Janovitz: “Aimee Mann’s Bachelor No. 2 is a favorite album of mine, and on a collection of amazing songs, there is something about ‘Ghost World’ that stands out for me. I love the disaffected lyric, and the guitars are just perfectly layered, especially the subtle, muddy rhythm guitar that hangs around a few seconds at the end, hissing and cracking as the song fades.”
