‘Goosebumps 2’ Trailer: Beware the gummy bears!

Folks, it is hot out. So hot and miserable, in fact, that we’re starting to fantasize about crisp autumn days full of ghosts and goblins and weird haunted puppets looking to unleash havoc on the world at large. Yes, we’re looking forward to what happens every October, of course, but we’re also kind of excited for Goosebumps 2: Haunted Halloween as well. The sequel to the 2015 family-friendly horror hit is coming out soon enough (and will help introduce a new generation of children to the things that scared us silly as children in the ’90s), and Columbia Pictures dropped a trailer for it on Wednesday. You can check it out below, and join us after to discuss a key plot detail: Where the hell is Jack Black?

Well, that looks fun!

We always knew we should be scared of gummy bears anyways — those little motherfuckers are probably colonizing our colons as we speak. Anyways, is Jack Black in this movie or not? He’s in one child-friendly horror movie this fall, that being Eli Roth’s The House With a Clock in its Walls alongside Cate Blanchett and Special Agent Dale Cooper himself, the tremendous Kyle Maclachlan, but we’re not sure if he’s here to voice Slappy the creepy puppet or appear as RL Stine (a real person, by the way). We guess we’ll find out sometime soon, though.

We’ve spoken before about the value of all-ages genre entertainment before, and we’ll say it again: Kids need movies like these if you ever want them to get into horror, and we should honestly be glad that this particular franchise is as good as it is.

Goosebumps 2: Haunted Halloween hits theaters on October 12, which may not be Friday the 13th, but it’s certainly close enough.
