Studio 52 Spotlight: teenender
What Studio 52 Says: After releasing an well-received EP last summer, Boston indie-pop group teenender danced back into our hearts earlier this year with their newest single “Psychic.” Compared to their past releases, the single feels very finely polished and shines with every synth line and reverberating bass groove. Singer Brian McKenna shows off his pipes in each track the band puts out, adding a euphonious patina to the already effervescent music behind him. The four-piece manage a fun, bouncy sound without fully crossing over into the pop realm- — injecting sharp guitar riffs and snug drum work gives them an indie-rock edge that makes their songs approachable and relatable. teenender shine brighter with each release they put out, and we won’t be surprised if they end up morphing into a Boston synth-pop powerhouse. Speaking of which, one of our most anticipated shows is at hand when we finally get to see teenender and former Featured Band Bearstronaut share the stage and hopefully keep it intact. Dutch ReBelle and DJ ABD join them Saturday night (July 7) at The Sinclair in Cambridge. — Andrew Maroney, Studio 52
