Russo blaze one for a lost summer on ‘Ghost’

It’s hotter than Andreja Pejic out here around Boston today; the kind of afternoon where you just want to cut out, find a chill spot out in the park next door, and blaze up something sticky. As we light up and wave off the day, we’re bumping Russo’s new joint “Ghost,” which arrived in video form late last week. The band led by vocalist Cailin Russo (daughter of Unwritten Law’s Scott Russo) has been getting comparisons to the likes of Blondie and No Doubt, and while that’s all well and good, there’s more here than just reggae- and ska-rock revivalism at play. Russo says “Ghost” is some kind of “emotional banger that deals with the complexities of being in a relationship with someone who has become a shell of themselves, a ghost,” and it’s got a nice added layer of heaviness to it without ever veering into cheese territory. It sets the tone nicely for the group’s forthcoming EP, House With A Pool, and we’re all about letting those summer vibes flow. Featured image via High Rise PR.
