Back in April, Billie Eilish’s “Party Favor/Hotline Bling” 7-inch was one of the more sought-after releases of Record Store Day 2018. After an all-day search around Boston, we finally secured our copy at the Newbury Comics in Harvard Square, adding the limited edition pink vinyl issue to our growing Billie collections. We wanted the record for the Drake cover, performed by Eilish on ukulele, which had become a live staple of the teenage pop prodigy’s live performances. On Friday (June 29), in honor of Drake releasing his album Scorpion, a proper recording of the cover finally surfaced online; it was recorded by Eilish in her home Los Angeles studio, and if you missed the RSD fanfare, you can get into it via Soundcloud below.
