Studio 52 Spotlight: Vitamin Sun
What Studio 52 Says: January saw the release of indie-progessive quartet Vitamin Sun’s newest full-length For You, Out Of You. Just breaking the hour mark, the dense 11 tracks showcase abundant heart-stopping time signature changes and tonal shifts that create a record that is invariably fun. The guitar and bass effects pile up into a cosmic funk but never over-saturate one another; this record remains clean with each section of each song flowing beautifully into the next like a groovy river. Vitamin Sun are able to pack their music with as much content and technicality achievable without exhausting the listener. Our favorite track off the new album “Burn” reaches for the seven-and-a-half-minute mark, but the constant modulations keep us entranced to the end. Each time we listen to the record we find new small details in the songs that show just how much care the band put into creating this compelling accomplishment. We highly recommend stopping by Midway Cafe in Jamaica Plain on Saturday night (June 23) to catch Vitamin Sun jam with The Cosmic Factory, Big Bad Wolf, and Sacred Lake. — Andrew Maroney, Studio 52
